  • Ekiti Govt Lied On N2.5bn Federal Allocation Per Month Claim—Adeyeye

Afenifere Chieftain and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Prince Dayo Adeyeye has described as false, claim by the State Government that it had not received more than N2.5bn as monthly subvention from the federation account since the Kayode Fayemi-led government came on board.

Adeyeye, who said in 2012 alone, Ekiti State received N50,303,046,508 from the federation account, wondered how N50,303,046,508 in 12 months would have amounted to less than N2.5bn per month.

While speaking during a press conference to mark the third anniversary of the Governor Kayode Fayemi-led administration in the state, Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation in Ekiti State, Tayo Ekundayo, had said that paucity of funds was a major challenge to achieving developmental agenda of the state government.

The Commissioner said; “We have not got more than N2.5bn as monthly subvention from the federation account since this government came on board."

However, Adeyeye faulted this claim in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti today by the Director General of his campaign organisation, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM), Hon. Bisi Kolawole.

He said; "Ekiti State gross allocation for the month of May, this year, which was shared in June was N4,307980,450.33 while net amount was N3,869,261,790.20

The 16 Local councils in the State got N2,647,074,904.37.

"In March, the Gross Allocation was N3,990,692,859.46 while the Net was N3,548,822,699.33. The 16 Local Councils got N2,455,033,558.25 while N185,951,986.02 was allocated to the State as its share of the Subsidy Fund with the Local Councils getting N115,897,035.57.

"In August, 2011, the Gross Allocation was N3,526,364,205.05

while the Net was N3,449,057,335.24 and local councils got N2,167,690,101.81

"It was only in December 2010 that Ekiti State received N2,393,328,255.38 after deductions were made from the Gross Allocation of N2,427,449,472.14

"So where did the N2.5bn per month the State Government claimed it had been receiving came from because the average of the N50.3bn it received in 2012 is more than N4bn per month?"

While admonishing functionaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the State to be mindful of the way they lie to the public in their bid to cover up the failure of the government, Adeyeye said; "Information as cheap as the amount being received by the State government from the federation account is not what a honest and serious minded government should lie about.

"But because what they are running in Ekiti State is a government of deceit, they can even tell us that construction of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos was part of the achievements of their government."
