Mums irritated by noisy kids either shout at them, spank them or
make the noisemakers stand in a corner. Not 29-year-old Christina Booth of
Olympia, Washington, who has a different but bloody way of making her children
tone done – she slits their throats.
Booth was arrested on Sunday for investigation of attempted murder
after she stabbed her three small children so they would be silent when her
husband, Thomas, a soldier, comes home, Thurston County Deputy Prosecutor Craig
Juris said on Monday.
Thomas is assigned at the 1st Special Forces Group at the Joint
Base Lewis-McChord.
The crying tykes were aged 2 and a set of twins who were only 6
months old, reports the Charlotte Observer. The children are now in stable
condition after undergoing surgery at a hospital and has been placed under
custody of Washington’s Child Protection Services.
The throat-slitting could be because Christina was drunk on
Saturday night after she and Thomas had two large glasses of wine each after
they watched a movie at home. He said proof of her intoxication was her speech
was slurred.
Thomas added that Christina was suffering from post-partum
depression, while she told detectives that she was having a tough time caring
for the children since Thomas never helps her and is even annoyed when the kids
cry and make noise.
Court documents said that Christina hit her breaking point when
the twins started to cry after she took them to bed. She got a knife from the
dishwasher and cut the throat first of her 2-year-old daughter and covered her
with a blanket. She proceeded to slit the throats of the twins.
According to Olympia Police Lt. Jim Costa, 911 got a call at 1:17
a.m. on Sunday from a crying woman that her kids were wailing and wouldn’t
stop, probably because they need a doctor.
After a minute, a man said the kids were bleeding from the neck
and needed an ambulance.
Although no formal charges has been filed against Booth, the court
set bail at $3 million. Thomas is not a suspect.
